Purpose for the Position:  The Area Director of Revenue Management will assume full responsibility of implementing the revenue strategy set forth by RHG for multi- units in assigned region. The position is responsible for the tactical daily revenue management practice of rate promotion and inventory controls and distribution throughout all distribution channels.

The Area Director of Revenue Management Essential Responsibilities:

To ensure that improvement of annual RevPAR penetration of several hotels with multiple brands in various sub-markets:

  1. Maximizes revenue of assigned hotels through a thorough knowledge of the PMS/RMS system and understanding of al booking channels.  Manages inventory allocation and price parameters positioned to achieve overall revenue goals.
  2. Configuration of RMS and rate inventory control systems; system recommendation and forecast validation, and daily report entry and analysis to produce and implement changes in the system.
  3. Support Regional Director in the execution of hotels RM strategy.
  4. Work with brand managers to effectively implement strategy and analyze key brand and property specific marketing reports to make successful decisions to increase revenue.
  5. Maintain the hotels pricing and distribution strategy within the hotels PMS and extranets.
  6. Produce the daily internal and weekly financial/ownership forecasts.
  7. Assist the RDoRM with pricing and yield decisions across all market segments based on the forecast.
  8. Maintain the hotels RMS to ensue it is maximizing revenue potential on all compression dates into the future.
  9. Assist the RDoRM during the annual RFP season in account analysis and pricing decisions.
  10. Assist the RDoRM during the annual business plan process.
  11. Manage the group quoting process using both manual ROI analysis and RMS decision support.
  12. Manage group blocks within the PMS for pickup/ cut- offs/ attrition/ wash etc.
  13. Maintain a concise room type oversell/ sell- through strategy for all future dates.
  14. Manage the rate loading process for all rate plans within all systems, and continuously test book for accuracy.
  15. Facilitate and/or attend hotels' weekly revenue meeting.
  16. Produce routine reports for the RDoRM and executive committee members for analysis. 

To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

  • Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
  • Use mathematical skills to interpret financial information and prepare budgets.
  • Analyze and interpret established policies.
  • Understand government regulations covering business operation.
  • Make business decisions based on production reports and similar facts as well as on your own experience and personal opinions.
  • See differences in widths and lengths of lines such as those on graphs.
  • Deal with the general public, customers, associates, union and government officials with tact and courtesy.

Physical Demands:  Lifting 20 lbs. Maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.  Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing.

Environmental Conditions:  Inside:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  A job is considered "inside" if the worker spends approximately 75% or more of the time inside.

Math Skills:  Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to:  Deal with system of real numbers; algebraic solution of equations; and probability and statistical inference.  Apply fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.

Language Skills:  Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to:  Read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.  Write business letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.  Participate in discussions and debates.  Speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.

Specific Vocational Preparation:  Formalized and vocational training must include: 4-Year Bachelor Degree in a related course of study and 5-years previous experience in hotel or convention center at the General Manager/Director of Operations level.  2-Year Associates degree in a related course of study and 10 years previous experience in a hotel or convention center at the General Manager/Director of Operations level.  Previous experience managing multiple, simultaneous disciplines within the hospitality industry or equivalent multi-unit management experience.
