Purpose for the Position:  To provide on-property Accounting training and Task Force support to the portfolio. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Task Force Accounting support, as assigned by Field Accounting Manager. Implement company policies and procedures and best practices.  Functions to include:  Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Income Audit, General Cashiering, Payroll processing, etc.
  2. On-site training and retraining of hotel Accounting staff. Ensure complete understanding of RHG accounting policies and procedures.  Coordinate with Accountants on areas of weakness.  Prepare and conduct monthly webinar trainings.
  3. Create best practice Accounting tips for hotel Accounting staff or point of contact. Develop training program and update policies and procedures as needed.
  4. Field calls and emails regarding procedural or system issues. Work with properties to correct issues timely.
  5. Communicate deficiencies observed in the field with the audit team.
  6. Troubleshoot computer system issues with a variety of systems (PMS, POS, Accounting System, Payroll Systems, etc.).

To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years progressive hotel and Food & Beverage Accounting experience.
  • Must have a deep understanding of property management and point of sale systems.
  • M3 Accounting Core and Profit Sword experience is a plus.
  • Understand and use math concepts.
  • Interpret technical information presented in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Work math problems quickly and accurately.
  • Understand and use computers and related equipment.
  • Must be an effective communicator - speak and write clearly to report financial information.
  • Be available for work evenings, weekends, and holidays, including travel as required. Travel up to 85% - most travel will be in and/or around New York City and surrounding boroughs.

Physical Demands:   Lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and small tools.  Walking and standing are required only occasionally.  Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.

Environmental Conditions:   Inside:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  A job is considered "inside" if the worker spends approximately 75% or more of the time inside.

Math Skills:  Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to:  Compute discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, markups and selling price.

Language Skills:   Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to:  Read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.  Write business letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.  Participate in discussions and debates.  Speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
