Purpose for the Position:  The Overnight Supervisor/Night Auditor will supervise overnight staff, deliver friendly and efficient customer service, and check in and out hotel guests providing maximum levels of guest satisfaction.  This position will be responsible for closing the day, ensuring all revenues, receipts, and ledgers are balanced.  Ensure the safety of the hotel guests at all times by monitoring Fire Safety Panel and providing coverage as the Fire Safety Director for the building.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provide coverage at the front desk.
  2. Greet, register, and assign rooms to the guests of the hotel.
  3. Ensure that all charges are correctly entered on the guest's bill and that this information is always up to date.
  4. Verify customer's credit and establish how the customer will pay for the accommodation upon check-in.
  5. Develop a log of all activities and events occurring on shift and provide a comprehensive Overnight Shift Report for the Hotel.
  6. Ensure that all Front of House staff are always properly dressed.
  7. Ensure that all accounts are balanced.
  8. Ensure that credit control procedures are strictly adhered to, that no bills exceed the stipulated limit without prior approval and that written confirmation, purchase orders, or order numbers are on file.
  9. Ensure maximum room occupancy within agreed overbooking policy.
  10. Perform simple bookkeeping activities, such as balancing receipts and revenues for the day, and perform income audits on all revenues posted (i.e., calculating restaurant checks and telephone charges to ensure proper revenues have been posted) prior to closing the day.
  11. Complete "bucket checks" to ensure all accounts are current and comply with standards established by the hotel's Accounting Manager/Controller and Front Office Manager.
  12. Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls, to ledgers manually, or by using computers.

To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

  • Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
  • Analyze and interpret established reports.
  • Deal with the general public, customers, associates, union and government officials with tact and courtesy.
  • Speak and write clearly.
  • Complete all assigned tasks, reports, projects etc. in a professional manner and on an on-time basis.
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands:  Lifting 20 or more lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.  Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing.
