Purpose for the Position:   To provide accurate and timely accounting data for properties assigned and assist with various accounting functions as assigned by the Director of Accounting.  Supervise and assist multiple Staff Accountants with day to day property reporting and questions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Handle cash management for multiple properties. Reconcile bank accounts weekly and manage the payment of AP to the cash flow of individual properties.  Request disbursements as needed.
  2. Perform a variety of regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competency.
  3. Generate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgets to Regional Directors of Operations and owners.
  4. Compile and prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts.
  5. Use judgement and professional skills in determining appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions, and reporting.
  6. Concurrently perform multiple assignments.
  7. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  8. Review monthly bank reconciliations and other reports to be used by management for analyzing financial information.
  9. Analysis of accounting transactions.
  10. Prepare tax schedules and apply basic knowledge of tax rules to assist in preparation of tax reports and returns.
  11. Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company. Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management.
  12. Perform specific projects to assist the Director of Accounting and Chief Financial Officer.
  13. Assist with training of new Staff Accountants as they come on board.
  14. Work with Staff Accountants and supervise the process of balance sheet review throughout the month.
  15. Work with Staff Accountants and supervise the preparation of monthly profit and loss statements for multiple properties.
  16. Ensure that all Staff Accountants are using the Real Hospitality Group authorized formatted spreadsheets to ensure consistency of all financial reporting.

To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

  • Hotel accounting experience required.
  • M3 Accounting Core/Profit Sword experience a plus.
  • Understand and use math concepts in order to design a financial or economic system.
  • Interpret technical information presented in mathematical or diagram form in order to work with things like real estate, property valuations, and stock market reports.
  • Work math problems quickly and accurately.
  • Understand and use computers and related equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Speak and write clearly to report financial information.
  • Plan and direct the work of accounting clerks and other workers.
  • Be available for work evenings, weekends, and holidays, including travel as needed.

Physical Demands:  Lifting 10 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and small tools.  Walking and standing are required only occasionally.  Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
